CORPORATE INCOME TAX
In Thailand, the general corporate income tax rate is 20% on taxable profits. This rate applies to most companies operating in Thailand. However, there are certain exceptions and incentives that can lead to different tax rates:
- Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs): For SMEs with a taxable income of up to THB 300,000, profits are tax-free. For income between THB 300,000 and THB 1 million, the tax rate is 15%. For income between THB 1 million and THB 3 million, the tax rate is 20%.
- Promotion of certain industries and activities: The Thai government offers various tax incentives and exemptions for companies in certain industries or for certain business activities to encourage investment and growth in these areas. These include investments in research and development, innovation, start-ups and companies in special economic zones.
- Exemptions and reductions for foreign investors: Foreign investors operating in certain sectors or meeting certain conditions may be granted tax exemptions or reductions by the Board of Investment (BOI) of Thailand.
Companies must file their corporate income tax returns annually with the Revenue Department and pay any taxes due accordingly. It is important that companies operating in Thailand understand and take into account the specific tax regulations and possible incentives applicable to their activities.

SALES TAX RATE
In Thailand, the value added tax (VAT) is currently 7%. This rate applies to most goods and services. There are some exceptions and exemptions for certain types of goods and services, such as certain food products, healthcare and educational services, which are either taxed at a reduced rate or exempt from VAT.
The Thai government has made temporary adjustments to the VAT rate in the past to stimulate the economy or to respond to certain economic conditions. Companies that make taxable sales in Thailand are required to register for VAT and pay the tax to the Thai Revenue Department.
