Digital coaching
Effectiveness: While the coach was previously able to respond very well to the client’s reactions and pay attention to body language during face-to-face coaching, digital coaching has a completely different effect. What is digital coaching? Unlike face-to-face coaching, digital coaching is an accompanying process. Both the coach and the client are challenged. This is because both participants are expected to have a high level of digital media competence. In addition to traditional e-mail and telephone, chat rooms, video conferencing systems, virtual meeting rooms, smartphone applications and, more recently, 3D avatars are increasingly being used.
Digital media skills – moderating, presenting and visualizing using suitable IT – are essential for the forward-looking and prudent coach and trainer, but also for the cost-conscious and well-informed client. People who have grown up with the digital world are already sitting on the management floors of companies today. Communication channels are used as a matter of course in day-to-day business. But in addition to the trending topics of Working World 4.0 or Digital, there is still the species of analog people whose brain or limbic system works completely differently from those who have already become accustomed to a digital environment.
Up to now, coaching has been an analogous people-oriented activity. Building trust with people has so far been characterized by human intuition and getting to know people physically.
Who is addressed by Digital Coaching?
The younger generation in particular, so-called digital natives, are often enthusiastic about this option, as they often travel a lot, want to learn regardless of location and anonymity often plays a role despite Facebook and Instagram & Co.
How long should a digital coaching session last?
While face-to-face lessons last between 45 minutes and 90 minutes, the use of technology in digital coaching reduces the attention span to 30 to 60 minutes.
What questions need to be clarified as to whether digital coaching makes sense at all? What is the content of digital coaching? What is the goal of this coaching? Who is the client – digital or analog? What is the relationship between the coach and the client? Who is digital coaching suitable for? Anyone who travels a lot will find an effective solution in digital coaching.
